HOW CAN YOU SOOTHE & REVITALIZE YOUR SKIN DURING HARSH INDIAN SUMMERS?

It is not a surprising fact that Indian summers are harsh and unforgiving for the skin. Your skin is more prone to getting tanned, oily, pigmented, and damaged, owing to the soaring temperatures and gusty loo winds. Moreover, the rising pollution levels in key metropolitan cities can leave skin dry and cracked, while clogging pores and causing acne breakouts. While there are a host of summer skincare products to choose from, most of them are loaded with toxic chemicals and artificial fragrances. Most commercial sunscreens also leave behind an unpleasant white residue on the skin, making it appear greasy. While adopting an organic skincare regime is the way to go, here is a list of all-natural products that will help you fight the wrath of the summer sun.

Aloe Vera Gel - A Calming Effect on Skin

Aloe Vera Gel is considered a wonder herb, which is used for skin care purposes all over the world. Aloe Vera contains several regenerative properties and imparts a cooling sensation when applied to the skin. Due to this quality, it is extremely effective when applied on sunburns, acne, and heat rashes, and keeps skin hydrated and glowing.

Usage

Cut a mature leaf from an Aloe Vera plant and place it in a bowl to allow the yellow-tinted resin to flow out. Then, cut the leaf in half and scoop/pour out the clear gel into a bowl or jar. Apply the gel on your skin every day and watch your skin develop a natural sheen and blemish-free exterior.

Turmeric - An Anti-Inflammatory Acne Fighter

Indians are no strangers to the benefits of Turmeric, as it is a major spice used in everyday cooking. Harboring several medicinal properties, Turmeric contains the compound curcumin, which is a potent antioxidant and contains anti-inflammatory properties. Our mothers and grandmothers are aware of the benefits of Turmeric too well, especially how it can fight acne and soothe skin rashes. Adding Turmeric to natural face packs also help impart a natural luster to the skin.

Buy good-quality Turmeric and blend it into a paste for easier use. Take 1-2 tablespoons of this natural blend and mix it with 2-3 drops of organic honey and 1 tablespoon of natural yogurt. Apply this mixture over the acne-affected areas or on skin prone to rashes. You can also whip up a natural conditioner with a mixture of turmeric, gram flour, and cold milk, which is also beneficial for discolored skin.
